How to Create a Comfy and Cozy Home

With the colder months quickly approaching, it is time to winterize your home and make it comfy, warm, and cozy once again. This year will be unlike any other winter before since we will likely be spending even more time than usual inside. That’s why the rooms you relax in should be as comfortable as possible! If you follow these five trends, you’ll know how to create a comfy and cozy home.

Be mindful of your fabrics. Choosing the right fabrics makes all the difference when you’re creating a comfy home. Soft, plush fabrics like fleece, wool, flannel, and faux fur are visually appealing, perfect for cuddling, and warm. Throw a fleece, knit, or wool blanket over your sofa and layout some flannel pillows so you can curl up while watching a movie. You can also look for more exciting accent pieces, like a faux fur bench or wool chair. Since you’re going to be spending a lot of time on the couch, you should also consider performance fabrics. Their design is unmatched, and they’re durable and environmentally-friendly too.

Settle in with a sectional. If you have a big family, then you need to have enough seating for everyone. You may not be used to everyone being home at the same time, and you’re living room set up shows that. It might be time to upgrade to a sectional. Sectionals provide the ultimate lounging experience for your living room, family room, or basement. They are less formal than your typical sofa but more inviting. With sectionals, you can create your own configurations, so you’ll be sure to make sure there’s room for the whole family. We suggest adding a chaise to whatever style you select. Don’t forget to add comfy pillows and blankets!

Get an upholstered bed frame. Your bed is the piece of furniture you spend the most time in, so you want to invest in one that looks as comfortable as it feels. Upholstered bed frames provide an additional amount of comfort and support while cultivating a cozy look and feel. Another reason to make the switch is upholstered bed frames captivate the room and stand out as a gorgeous centerpiece. There are plenty of different materials and options to choose from, so you’ll be sure to find one that matches your personal home design style.

Kick back in a recliner. Gone are the days when recliners were grandpop’s favorite chair. Now, they’re a comfy home must-have. Recliners allow you to lay back and relax in the position you desire. Another bonus is that they come in various styles like modern, rustic, urban, or traditional. Choose a reclining chair or a reclining sofa as your go-to lounge piece if a sectional is not your style.

Set the mood with lighting. Turn off the overhead lighting and light some candles instead. Choose festive favorites such as pine, cranberry, cinnamon, candy cane, or any other scent that makes you want to curl up by a fire. Not a fan of candles? Incorporate LED lights. They give off the look of flickering candles but are safer. Aside from candles, you can also switch out your lampshades with darker ones to create more ambiance.
