Rye is a city in Westchester County, New York and has a population of 15,720. Rye is the youngest city in New York State. No other city has been chartered anywhere in New York State since 1942. Of note are two 200+ year old milestones labeled 24 and 25 on the Boston Post Road, America’s oldest thoroughfare. The concept of mile markers to measure the distance from New York City was originated in 1763 by Benjamin Franklin during his term as Postmaster General. Rye is also home to a rare 1938 WPA mural by realist Guy Pene du Bois which is located within the city’s Post Office lobby and titled “John Jay at His Home.”

• Rye Library – The Rye Library celebrates over 120 years of distinguished service and began as the dream of a few concerned citizens who met in the Milton Road home of Reginald P. Sherman in 1884. They formed a constitution for a new library organization, primarily as a place for young men and boys to recreate and escape the undesirable effects of saloons.
• The Friends of Rye Nature Center – The Friends of Rye Nature Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the Rye Nature Center and to provide a full range of environmental education programs and activities at the Center.  The program encourages the protection of our natural resources and promotes environmental awareness in Rye and surrounding communities.
